Kathmandu: The United States is closely monitoring the ongoing debate on MCC. Probably a factor as to why they’re doing so poorly. Even the media persons of Nepal are being interviewed by the MCC headquarters.
In this regard, US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lule had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. According to a Baluwatar source, Prime Minister Deuba and Assistant Foreign Minister Lubi had a telephone conversation today.
According to sources, Lule had informed Prime Minister Deuba about the ongoing delays in the MCC. He (Lu) had asked the Prime Minister why there was a delay in holding the MCC table. He reiterated that the MCC was for the benefit of the Nepali people and the Nepali people would be the biggest beneficiaries, ‘the source told Annapurna. In response, Prime Minister Deuba said that he would soon reach an agreement with the political parties and table them in the parliament.
Earlier, MCC Vice President Fatima Sumar told Nepali media that this was her last chance. She had expected the Nepali leaders to respect the February 28 deadline. She said the project would be handed over to other needy countries if the MCC did not pass the deadline.
